Online Game Inkling Boy, Girl, and Squid 3-pack
As with all of Nintendo's amiibo figures, these
Splatoon ones are top notch with great attention to detail. I love the
squid's eyes, the 'splatter' bases on each one, and the ink tanks on the
back of the Inkling Boy/Girl. Fantastic designs. This three pack is
also a slightly better deal per amiibo than usual, at $11.66 each rather
than $12.99 each (if you get them at their $34.99 MSRP).
But what do they actually do?
In Splatoon, each of the three Inkling amiibo unlocks 20 challenges. These challenges are from the single-player story missions, and are different depending on which amiibo you use:
Inkling Boy:
His challenges are story missions where you are required to use a roller weapon rather than the standard splatter shot (a close range paint roller rather than normal assault rifle-like ink gun). These are probably the hardest of the three simply because certain parts of missions are difficult to do without a longer range weapon.
Inkling Girl:
His challenges are similar to Inkling Boy's where you do story missions, but using a long-range sniper-type of ink gun rather than the normal splatter shot medium-range ink gun. These are kind of fun since the normal story mode restricts you to one weapon, and the sniper can make certain parts of missions more interesting.
Inkling Squid:
The squid's challenges are definitely the most fun, in my opinion. They add a very welcome spin on the story missions, where you actually have a time limit to complete them. Instead of switching your weapons like the other two amiibo do, the squid will give you the Kraken powerup, which makes your ink swimming faster and more powerful.
